TASTING NOTES
The 2023 Acrobat Pinot Noir is an instant classic. Textbook cool-climate Pinot characteristics of bing cherry, raspberry, plum, and damp earth aromas are met with touches of cinnamon and mocha. The juicy palate displays red fruit and fine-grained tannins with a pop of acidity adding balance and freshness. Pair with veggie pizza, hummus and pita, or stuffed mushrooms.
WINEMAKING PROCESS
Winemaking for the 2023 Acrobat Pinot Noir was dictated by one goal: capture the best attributes of Oregon. This Pinot Noir is a perfect blend of two of Oregon’s top appellations – Rogue Valley and Willamette Valley. Early harvest, stainless steel fermentation, and a combination of gentle punchdowns and pumpovers all aimed at reealing the bright red fruits and ripe tannins in this red wine. The wine was gently pressed and aged for 9 months in French oak, where it completed malolactic fermentation.
VINTAGE NOTES
The growing season got off to a slow start in 2023 and there were concerns of a very late vintage, but then unusually warm weather in April and May caused rapid vine growth, catching up to previous vintages. Heat spikes in august led to some sunburn and continued the warming trend of the season. 2023 ended up being one of the warmest and earliest seasons on record but the fruit quality was outstanding.
